A parliamentary delegation of the SDGs Taskforce participated in the 3rd Annual South Asia Platform for Children. The meeting discussed and debated the current situation of children in South Asian region, main bottlenecks and ideas for the way forward, Members of the Parliament also committed to taking concrete legislative and policy action for investments in children’s rights – particularly those commonly left behind. The delegation was headed by MNA Ms. Kanwal Shauzab (Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform), MNA Mehnaz Aziz (Chairperson SDGs Taskforce Committee on Child Rights), MPA Uzma Kardar. Against the backdrop of a societal and technological change – South Asian leaders, policy makers, development partners and youth representatives came together to reaffirm their promise to protect every child and fulfill their rights, by adopting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
